So, about a week or so ago I finally decided to register on eBay because I was seeing some things that were just too tempting and I decided to be brave. While I prefer Etsy for clothes and most other vintage items, there are some really great items and deals on eBay.
However, though I won my first bid easily, lately I have been completely frustrated and lost several bidding wars. After seeing a WWII sweetheart bracelet in someone's outfit post, forgive me I forget the blog, I immediately wanted one. Now I've become so addicted to collecting these items. My favorite are the lockets that still have the soldier of the woman who owned the necklace still inside. Lately every single time one of these lockets appears on eBay the same person outbids me and the bid on every single one available. It just frustrates me...does this person really need them all :(
I wanted to show you girls pictures of the one I did win, but my camera died after falling in my dog's water bowl...it's a long story but mostly just involves me being a klutz...
I still have hope that it may come back to life.
Anyway enough whining from me. I just wanted to share a couple pictures of some of the cool WWII sweetheart jewelry out there.

that's a shame you keep being outbid! good luck for next time!
ReplyDeletethese are such amazing pieces of wearable history. As for eBay, there's really a trick to bidding and winning. That's why I tend to stick with Etsy. If you search regularly enough, you can be the early bird that gets the worm with just a click.
ReplyDeletexoxo.
Orange and Apples - Thanks ;)
ReplyDeleteLandGirlontheHomeFront - Yeah, they are really cool aren't they? I know what you mean about there being a trick to bidding and winning because I don't have that talent ;) I agree I think I'm just going to sticking with Etsy for the most part, as long as you don't debate to long over buying something it's usually yours if you spot it first.
Being outbid is never fun :( If I see something I just have to have, I put in an insane bid with seconds left in the auction and that usually works. But then I keep myself from looking at Ebay for about another month afterward to keep from being tempted by another auction.
ReplyDeleteohhhh these are amazing!!! I especially love the gold locket with the picture of the soldier. It makes me think of all of the stories and possibilities behind it!
ReplyDeleteThese are so fantastic, I'd honestly not seen many examples of such lockets before, but am now smitten with them, too. As a long time eBayer on a shoe string budget, I fully understand your frustration at being outbid repeatedly, but do hang in there, honey, I'm sure that the auction gods will smile on you one of these days :)
ReplyDeleteLots of eBay luck & big hugs,
♥ Jessica
Oh, those are sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about certain ebay arch-nemesises. Hehe... I have a few... but then I think if I ever met them in person I'd probably really like them, especially if they shared their plunder! :)
beautiful array of old time keepsakes.
ReplyDeleteEbay is really hard for me too
