Another Year Older...Maybe Not Wiser Though

Hello! I'm dreadfully sorry that it has been so long since I've posted. Things have been a bit hectic lately, but hopefully I'll be back on schedule soon. Today I am being lazy, I will admit, and not doing much of real post because...it's my birthday!

I may need to do so vintage splurging today ;)

Halloween Costume Ideas

As far as I know I'm not going to any Halloween parties or anything that will require me to be dressing up in anything, so I have no costume, nor am I planning to get one but here's some of the things I would love to dress up as.

I'm a huge Julie Andrews fan, and I've always loved her dress from the version of the musical Cinderella she was in. If I had some mad sewing skills I would definitely recreate this dress for myself. It looks like such a fun dress to wear. I'm a huge klutz though, hehe, so I would probably take people out with the skirt ;)

I also think it would be super fun to be Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady, while I adore the gown she wears to the ball that would be hard to recreate and I think it would be really fun to dress like she looked as a flower girl.

And lastly I'm a huge Jane Austen/Regency era fan, I love the fashion from that era. Too bad I could only get away with wearing it as a costume without someone thinking I was completely looney ;)

Looking Through the Rear Window...

So, like many of you, I'm a huge TCM fan, and I couldn't help but be inspired by the gorgeous fashion in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window". Amazing movie and fashion to die for!

I realized as I was looking through images at some of the fashion, that the costume designer for this movie was the brilliant Edith Head, whose lovely work can be seen in countless movies, including many of the Hitchcock movies.

So, for a bit of weekend inspiration, I thought I'd leave with some of my favorites from her work, including the exquisite fashion from "Rear Window" with the stylish and beautiful Grace Kelly.

They Just Don't 'Em Like They Used To!!!

So, late TMC has been playing some of the most fabulous movies and I love watching them just as much for the plot as to drool over the amazing clothes. I thought it would be fun to post a few of my favorite outfits/dresses that came to mind from old movies!

Grace Kelly, "To Catch a Thief". The white dress she wears in this movie is absolutely stunning!

I wonder if actresses were tempted to steal their wardrobe after they finished a movie, or if they were allowed to keep any of it. After all, it was custom made for them. I know I would want to!
