10 Things About Me

Hello girlies! I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a while. For a bit I just wasn't able to come up with any inspiration for some good posts and then I just got too busy :( But I'm back!

So, I've realized that I've shared very few things about myself, other than my love for vintage, but I was tagged by the lovely Claradevi of Sunflares Plethora (which is the most lovely blog, if you haven't even come across, you it out!) to do this little list of things about myself and I thought it would be fun!
Some Things About Me...

1. I am Italian, Irish, Swedish, and Scottish...but only look Italian! I've always longed to have red hair (courtesy of my Irish ancestry) instead of being a brunette, but I've learned to love what I have...most of the time ;)

2. I'm a shortie, only 5'2", but then again I always wanted to be on the short side. Though sometimes I wish for long graceful legs to be able to pull off certain styles, I'm pretty happy with my height, though it means a lot of hemming to make things fit right at times ;)

3. I have a slight obsession with cupcakes. I think they are the world's most perfect little food, and I'm on a mission to try them from as many different bakeries as possible.

4. I love to read, in fact I'm usually reading 3-4 books at a time, and I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and wish that Mr. Darcy or any of the other Jane Austen were real (although if they were they would surely be taken!). Unlike the majority of you ladies, I currently have no boyfriend or husband, but I hope my perfect guy is out there and shows up soon ;)

5. I really love animals, I have two lovely adopted dogs that are sweeties. I recommend never buying from a pet store, there's so many homeless pets out there, including bunnies, lizards, etc. that are up for adoption!

6. I love a lot of different types of music. I currently love power-pop groups, but I really like all types of other music as well including classic rock (The Beatles are my favorite), musicals, classical music, and classic singers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, etc. I love music from the 40s and stuff as well. I recently discovered a group called the Puppini Sisters who are like a modern version of the Andrews Sisters, they're great! And so is their fashion!

7. I can be quite shy at times, but I'm working on it (because sometimes it really annoys me), although sometimes I find that there are good things about this side of myself as well.

8. There are many vintage items that I would still like to own, but at the top of my wish list is a gorgeous SWIRL dress from the 40s or 50s. I don't really have any good vintage shops around me to hunt in, so I'm always on the lookout for one on Etsy and eBay. It seems hard to find cute ones that are affordable and won't swallow me up or require me to wear a corset in order to fit into them.
I wish I would get left some money by a longlost rich relative, so I could buy any vintage item I wanted without cost being an issue ;)

9. When I'm really stressed out or upset about something I find it therapeutic to bake, I don't know why but it always helps!

10. I haven't travelled much I long above all to go to England and France. I'm suck a sucker for English accents. I could listen to people who have them talk all day long. And I love France as well. I'd love an excuse to use so my of my rusty French (which I took for about 6 years in high school and then college), languages sure slip away from you quickly though.

So, there's a few little facts about me. I hope that you guys found them a little interesting! Thanks for reading!
Anyone who feels so inspired is free to do this as well! I'd love to know more about each and every one of you ;)

  1. I think we may be twins or something. I do have red hair (it's darkening a lot as I get older, people who haven't seen me in a few years are always commenting)
I LOVE to read, animals, and cupcakes. A LOT! Isn't interesting how we bump into people in the blogosphere who are so much like us? :)

  2. I second all of those things... except the baking part, as I have yet to master that skill. I'm constantly changing my hair, and I think I've had most fun as a red head (blondes don't have the most fun! hehe). And I'm still waiting for that long lost, but extremely well-off, relative to appear... They sure are taking their time.

    Thanks for sharing this!

  4. How fascinating to learn more about the lovely soul behind this blog. We have a lot in common, honey. I'm 5 foot 2 as well (being petite is awesome, yes it can mean more tailoring, but it also gives you that adorable "pocket sized" appearance that I just adore), I love books, animals and a myriad of different styles of music, and veer on the shy side, too.

Thank you for sharing some wonderful facts about yourself with us all, darling!

    Oodles of hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

  5. i always love to learn about bloggers!

i also have an obsession with cupcakes. Especially the ones with beautiful colours and icing. delicious AND beautiful? i would only eat cupcakes if i could!

I am quite shy aswell. People tend to see that as beeing rude or big headed, but I sometimes cant help but be quiet and hide in some corner.

you should definitely go to England! Its beautiful! Part of my family's from there, so when I was really little and started to learn English I accuired their accent. I can't immagine myself speaking with any other accent!

  6. Wow, lizzy, this is great!
I'm glad that you want to do the tag and wrote down those intriguing facts about yourself.
I don't know where to start, I just feel that I could relate to every number! Our height is quite similar, I love cupcakes and am a bookworm myself, I don't need to say anymore about my passion to the animals - I've stated it pretty often, or too often, LOL - I also like different kind of music and the power-pop bands, I LOVE THE BEATLES sooo much and remember most of their songs's lyrics... I also get shy easily sometimes and I adore vintage fashion...

You're just such a sweetheart! We should be twins or sisters in the past life. And I'm glad if it was so, because you're always adorable and sweet! :))

    2. I'm also 5'2" and I too have to hem all of my dresses and occasionally wish for long elegant legs! but mostly i'm happy cause i can curl into little places and be small!
    4. I'm about to read Pride & Prejudice for the first time!!! It's for class, and I am ashamed never to have read it before, but I'll have to come back and let you know what I thought!

    7. the internet is perfect for shy girls wouldn't you say?
    10. I totally agree! I learned Spanish in high school and was perfectly fluent, and from lack of using it I can barely remember the basics!

  8. Lemondrop Marie - I left a comment on your blog, but thanks again for your sweet comment. Clearly great minds think alike and we shoudl have been twins to be sure!
40sfemme - ;) I wasn't a master of baking either when I first started, and I still have little disasters here and there if I'm too distracted or am trying out a new recipe. And I wish I could pull off dyed red hair or I would definitely be a faux redhead all the time.
Amanda - I'm glad you appreciated hearing a little about me, that is so kind of you.
Jessica - You're so sweet, as always. Glad you enjoyed my little "about me" post. It's so fun to find out that I have some much in common with some of you! And I agree, being short is quite fun!

  9. Ines - Yes, cupcakes are the greatest aren't they? I think I like your idea of eating cupcakes all the time...if only ;) And I know what you mean, there's several times in my life where people have misunderstood my shyness and me being rude or full of myself. (And I would hope that I'm neither!)
Claradevi - Thanks for tagging me to do this post! It ended up being a lot of fun! It's so cool that you have so much in common with me. We most definitely should have been twins or sisters in a past life, as you said! You're a sweetie as well :)
Meaghan - Doesn't it stink to be Irish and not get the red hair? Please do tell me what you think about Pride and Prejudice after you finish it! (It's my favorite, I wrote several papers about it in college as well ;) ) If you enjoy the book I highly recommend the Colin Firth movie version of P&P it is incredible and spot on for the most part with the book.
Oh, and yay for animal adoption :)

  10. Loved learning everything about you! I find baking very therapeutic as well. Making jewelry and crafts is helpful too, I guess I just like to do step by step things with my hands, very calming.
