Dreaming in Vintage

So, I'm sure that you all have really specific items that you don't have in your vintage collection yet, but hope to one day have, but haven't yet. Or like me some of the most lovely things will never be in your price range so all you can do is dream...

What pieces do you ladies wish for?

Here's a few things I hope to one day collect.

A Peggy Hunt dress. I think that her designs are some of the most lovely vintage pieces I have ever seen. I just love the illusion dresses, they look so elegantly risque. There are other illusion dresses out there too, so I should probably look for a less well known designer, huh?

A vintage wedding dress. I just love the wedding dresses like this one from the 1950s (this one is particularly gorgeous). Hopefully I actually have the need to buy one, one day. Goodness knows I would not jinx myself by buying one now. That would just be some bad luck I would cause myself. But I can still drool over them for fun, right?

Here's just a few other lovely pieces that I would love to one day own something similar to (too bad I can't buy them all right now, or find them all ;) )

These are just a few examples of styles I've been craving. Hope you enjoy them and perhaps they will serve as some inspiration to make your own, or go vintage shopping ;)

(And I didn't do a navy blue theme on purpose, hehe, I am a fan of brighter colors actually, but I loved these dresses)

Have a lovely Monday!

  1. Count me in on the navy. I adore it! Those are beautiful dresses. I have loads of dresses that I 'visit' just to see if anyone has tottled off with them.

    Thanks doll,

  2. Those are all beautiful! Especially the wedding dress. I hope one day to have a vintage Gucci purse in my collection of purses, and I always like to add vintage monet charms to my Christmas charm collection, quite honestly I am always on the lookout for vintage and rarely turn it down if I can afford it!

  4. Thanks for the wonderful comment Lizzy! That wedding dress is to die for...it actually looks a lot like Solanah from Vixen Vintage wore for her wedding.

  5. Yes, isn't that wedding dress beautiful? I was in love with Solanah's wedding dress, Kellet Anne. There's one on the website where I found the one I put in my post that looked even more like hers. So gorgeous!!!

  6. Gorgeous roundup of items, the really long navy dress in particular jumped out at me.

There are so, so, so many things on my fantasy vintage wardrobe wish I scarcely know where to begin, but I'd have to say that a truly lux evening gown (or ten), really well tailored 40s (or early 50s) skirt suits, and tons of full/circle skirts would top my list.

Here's to hoping that you'll some day be able to add those dream pieces to your closet, sweetie.

    Have a beautiful Tuesday,
    ♥ Jessica

  9. I'm absolutely with you on the 1950s wedding dresses. I find the ones today a tad ridiculous looking, but the one you show is just lovely and demure. Perfection.

  10. Laura, I completely agree with you. Some wedding gowns made nowadays are just riduculou looking and far from classy.

  11. I'm in love with all of those dressed. I sell a lot of vintage items on ebay but if I came across any like that AND they fit me they'd be keepers. This vintage wedding gowns always has many available should we be ready and this cheap vintage clothing site as well.

  12. Thanks for the links Thrift Store Junkie, and I will definitely have to check out your ebay shop. I wouldn't blame if you kept any of the dresses above. In fact I don't see how anyone can bear to part with all the lovely vintage pieces out there on etsy and ebay but I'm glad that they do!
