Rummaging Through the Past...

It has only been within in the last year or so that I have gotten into vintage clothing. I've always loved the styles of the past (particularly the 1930s-1950s), but for I while I was looking to reproduction pieces, which are nice (though sometimes overpriced), but nothing beats the history behind a true piece of vintage clothing.

Until I discovered the wonders of Etsy, I had been having very little luck.

After reading the blogs of people who have been making wonderful finds, I would like to know if anyone has any tips they'd like to share about finding great vintage pieces.

I've tried thrift stores, but well...that hardly turned out well, unless one happens to be into 90s and 80s fasion, which I'm not.

Anyone made an great finds lately?

These shoes are my best piece so far (not vintage, but they have such 40s look to them that I just love)

  1. They do look especially 40's! But most things are vintage inspired in some way anymore, and I can't say I mind that at all!

    These shoes are gorgeous :)

  2. What wonderful shoes, they do have a distinctly 40s feel to them. I would gravitate towards those in a shoe store, if I chanced upon them, too :)

Thank you very much for your lovely comment on my blog, I hope you're having a beautiful week!

  3. speaking of "rummaging" I came across this blog while rummaging around online, and I had to stop and pay a complement to the wonderful shoes! I love new shoes with a vintage feel (especially since I can never find actual vintage ones above a 7). Lovely blog! I've also just started one (http://usualsuspectspcj.blogspot.com/)... we'll see how it goes.

  4. 40sfemme, thanks for commenting! :)
I know what you mean about the difficulty of finding vintage shoes. Everytime I spot a cute pair on etsy or ebay they're always something ridiculous like a size 5 or something. I have small feet, but not that small!!! So, like you I love finding shoes that look vintage.
