Never Too Old

So, a young woman like myself probably shouldn't admit still enjoying paperdolls, but I find them so fun. There are some really beautiful ones out there, and now I love them not for playing with, but for the styles. I've found some lovely ones that offer just beautiful glimps at 1940s, 1950s style, etc.

Tom Tierney has the most beautiful paperdolls.

Aren't these I Love Lucy ones, just too cute, I always loved her fashions on the show, even though I tend to prefer 1930s, 1940s style over the 1950s

Look at the WWII pin-up girl ones. Too fun, aren't they???

  4. I love the Tierney paper dolls. I had the Movie Stars from the Thirties and a Shirley Temple one when I was a child. It first started my interest in the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Great blog. Found it through Jessica's Chronically Vintage.

  5. I adore paper dolls. I had a set of Victorian ones that I played with until they fell apart. I swear I can still see all the beautiful dresses and finery the paper ladies wore. *sigh*. When I was studying costume design I would often use paperdolls as a jumping off point for designs and poses for my renderings.

    Thanks Doll,

40sfemme - I can't remember where I found the pin-up ones, but the other 2 I purchased through amazon.com believe it or not.
Jessica- Thanks for your lovely comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the dolls!
Amanda - I'm glad you're enjoying my blog so far! I'm very glad you found it. The Tierney paperdolls are just beautiful. I have many more from other eras. One of my favorite sets are Civil War ones.
Glamourous Housewife - I too wore my paperdolls to death when I was young. I'm far more careful with ones I have now. You are so right, they are great to study for fashion designs!
